How to Use Your Branding Photos

As a business owner I believe that the most important thing about my business, and your business, is our brand. What is your brand you ask? IT’S YOU! You are your brand. When I say that what I mean is that you may have the same business model or be in the same industry as someone else. What makes yours different from theirs though? Again, it’s YOU! No one has your mind, experience, thought process. It’s uniquely yours!

As a branding photographer it is my goal to capture that in my photoshoots. When I do a branding shoot I like to ask a series of questions. Maybe you have branded photos of you and your business and you’re not sure what to do with them. Here are a few things to ask yourself.

What do you want to say to your clients?
Do you go live online and want your clients to join you?
Are you teaching a class?
Do you have a presence online and want people to follow you on there?
Do you have something you are celebrating?

If you haven’t had your branding photoshoot booked yet ask yourself these questions so that you can go in with a plan! If you have had yours taken then ask yourself some of the above questions before you post if you’re not sure how to use them. Hope this helps!

Scheduling a Month’s worth of content

So there are many different ways that you can schedule content. I will share a few different ways I schedule mine with you!

The first app that I use is Planoly. Planoly allows you to upload photos, type out your content for the actual post and then it also allows you to create hashtag groups. Ok….so here’s the breakdown. Think of Planoly as your Instagram grid. Just like your grid you can see all the photos you have posted, but you can also see all the photos that you would like to schedule to post. When you pull up one of the photos you would like to schedule you can write your caption there. Click on the hashtag and you can add a programmed group of hashtags that you’ve already created. Click schedule to choose when you would like this content to be posted. This will cut down significantly on time. Once you get the hang of the app, start creating! You can start planning out social media posts for the week or even the month if you’d like! This allows you to focus on your business without feeling like you have to think about creating new posts every single day.

Similarly, Facebook has the scheduling feature in Facebook. I constantly meet people that didn’t realize this is an option. Go type up a post just like you would normally, but instead of hitting post click schedule. You can then select the day and time you want to post. If you dedicate a day to just creating content then you can just go in and start scheduling everything!

The third platform I use and I LOVE is called Trello. Trello is like to do list for content. This is a massive help for me when I’m trying to organize my content. You can even create a to be done list and a done list and drag and drop from one to the other as you progress.

I hope this helps a little bit when feeling overwhelmed with scheduling your content so that you don’t feel like you have to be ON social media every single day.

How to Rebrand

I remember not so long ago when I decided that I wanted to rebrand my business. I was in the same industry, but I knew that the direction I was headed was not one that I was particularly passionate about. Once I decided on the direction that I wanted to go in I was basically faced with starting a new brand. So while it’s been a little while since I’ve rebranded my own business I wanted to talk about ways to rebrand your business in 2019.

First thing that you need to do is decide on your business. Now while this may seem easy it’s important to narrow down who you are targeting to a specific niche. For me I’ve always been doing photography, but within photography there are SO many different directions you can go. If you try and be the “everything photographer” I find that it confuses people and they are less likely to hire you. Clients want someone who is an “expert” in their field. It doesn’t mean that you can’t do other things, but I would encourage you to focus on one specific niche.

Secondly it is so important to understand your why. Why is it that you are doing what you are doing? What is the purpose for your brand? It’s the driving force of your business. Without your why it is so easy to get lost in your business and get off track.

Once you’ve picked your niche and you’ve established your why you will begin to skyrocket!

You are your own PR department

I was getting frustrated. I was feeling overwhelmed. How am I supposed to do this? How am I supposed to post to Instagram, Facebook, Youtube, have a newsletter, and a blog? I AM ONLY ONE PERSON! After I had a brief freak out moment I took a breath. I looked out the window and I thought about it. Every big company out there has their own PR firm and marketing department. That’s when it hit me. I AM my own PR and marketing department. What I am posting is my business. So I decided to stop hating social media and I decided to started to think of myself as my own company. This sounds slightly ridiculous because I am my own business and my own brand so this should be obvious. I got overwhelmed though and I forgot to think of myself as a professional. It was as if I only thought of myself as a professional when I was doing a photoshoot or networking event. When I was at home creating content I forgot. So for any of you that work from home or own your own business and just plain get overwhelmed, this is my reminder for you. Breathe. Don’t freak out. Now remind yourself that you are the most super rad business owner and start to show up for your business. It is the best thing you can do for yourself!

Work Life Balance

Can I just be honest for a second? I went on a walk a few weeks ago after days of not feeling well and while on the walk I started to panic that something was seriously wrong. I felt like I was having a heart attack. Or maybe it was a stroke. My head kind of hurt so it could be a brain tumor.

So I picked up the phone and made a doctors appointment.

“We have a test and you scored as having extreme anxiety.” The doctor said. “I suggest that you start journaling the things that cause you anxiety.”

“Really?” I thought. Well I’ve never had a doctor prescribe journaling before. The doctor also did prescribe a very low dose of anti anxiety medicine after I requested. She actually wasn’t going to prescribe it right away, but I knew I couldn’t continue to function the way I had been. I literally had been laying on the couch for days.

Apparently work/life balance is important. And apparently anxiety is for REAL! I’ve heard people talk about it but never have I experienced something like this. What I really wanted to say with this is that for anyone that may experience this feeling I can now officially say that I FEEL you. I’m so so sorry for anyone who has experienced this. It’s crippling. I know for me the thing that has helped me is just to be stupid honest about it. I’ve literally texted friends and just said “anxiety attack”.

As a solo entrepreneur I’ve found that this has kept me from being able to work. Which is literally my livelihood.

So can I ask you? Is this something you’ve dealt with before? And how did you handle it? Also I want you to know you are not alone!

Why You Need a Branding Photographer

Most people wonder why they need a business or branding photographer. Maybe they think they can get a good enough quality photo with a phone. Maybe a relative or a coworker has a camera and they think that what they can do for them is good enough.

Here is why I believe that a branding photographer is the right decision. Branding photographers usually have years of experience and they know how to photograph you in a way that is going to show off your brand. After 11 years of photography I’ve studied, not only photography, but also business and what attracts clients. When my clients hire me it’s not just because I know how to operate a camera. My clients hire me because I know how to draw their clients in with the way I capture their brand.

If you are wanting to grow your business and you want people to hire YOU for what YOU do it’s important to go through the same process. After all if you are not willing to hire something there’s a chance that mentality could hinder you from having someone hire you. We tend to attract what we put out to the world. So if you are wanting to “do it yourself” or “find something cheaper” then the clients you attract may have the same mindset.

These are just a few different reasons why I truly believe hiring a branding photographer is so much more important than taking the cheap and easy routes. You want to make sure that you are representing your business the RIGHT way!

Best Instagram Growth Service

Instagram Growth Services are one of the most popular services right now. I have done a lot of research and have found pros and cons to these services. First of all I completely understand the draw to such a service. For those of us using Instagram to grow our businesses or to sell our products we are drawn to getting it in front of as large of an audience as possible.

First of all lets talk about the pros to these services. A lot of these services will do exactly what they say. They will grow your audience. You may even see quite the spike in your numbers. There are statistics that show that only a small percentage of your audience will purchase your product or sign up for your mailing list. So statistically the larger the audience you have the larger your sales will grow.

Now for the cons. Here is what I’ve found. A lot of these services will follow the follow for follow tactic. Meaning the software will follow pages that are similar to your interests in hope that they will follow you back. Then after a few days the software will unfollow the accounts

Organically Grow Your Instagram in 2019

How do i grow my Instagram account organically? I feel like it’s one of the most commonly asked questions i see and hear in the social media realm.
Here are my 3 tips for growing your account organically

  1. Post every day. Is it work? Yes. If you are using your account for business then the work is SO work it.
  2. Use hashtags that have been used between 2k and 200k times. If a hashtag has been used too little no one will see your content. If a hashtag has been used too much though as soon as you post you’ll get lost in the millions of other posts.
  3. Leave genuine comments on other people’s content. If you want people to engage with your content then show others the same courtesy and interact with their accounts!

Follow these few steps and start to watch your following grow!

Showing Up When you Only Have a Sale

Have you ever decided to blow up your social media because you are having a sale and you need more business?

Listen, I’ve done it too. I have thought to myself “Business has been slow and I could use some extra cash so I might as well have a sale. If people see that I’m having a sale then they will buy a bunch of stuff!”

I’m going to tell you as a friend….IT DOESN’T WORK!

Can you imagine if you had a friend that you never heard from, that you never hung out with, and that you never talked to, but then all of a sudden when they were having a sale they started blowing up your phone like you are best buds? It feels gross. It’s because people can sniff out if you are being disingenuous.

Show up for your business even when you are not having a sale. Give value without expectation. Maybe someone will buy from you, but people will respect you so much more and be willing to refer to you if you are constantly giving of yourself.
